Who is Miss Candice?

That’s most likely a question you had after finishing Soul Ties. Or was it Solace? Chile, if it was If Not for Love, you already know who I am. If not, I am notably known as an author who pushes her pen to the limit. Who is not only talented but who is also driven, ambitious, and extremely passionate. Should’ve said that first. Passionate is synonymous to Miss Candice. If you’ve made it here, you agree don’t you? Mmhmm. It bleeds through my writing. I can say it with confidence because I know what happens when these little fingers of mine gets to moving across this keyboard. I give the name Magic Keyboard a whole new meaning when I put my fingers to it. Look at me, getting off track. You thought I was only wordy in my books? Baby, I’m wordy, period! LOL. Silly too, if you haven’t noticed already.

Let me refocus. 🧘🏾‍♀️ okay, I’m back. LOL.

I’m Miss Candice (obviously 😂) and I’m a Detroit native! I’ve been published for almost nine years, and independent for five. Although my career as an author started in 2014, I’ve been writing since a teenager. Initially, poetry was my lane. That was until I got my hands on The Coldest Winter Ever. After that, I was hooked! I quickly fell in love with Eric Jerome Dickey, Wahida Clark, Keisha Ervin, and just the whole Triple Crown Publications movement. Eventually, I began to write stories of my own, on fan-fiction message boards. The first series I published, If Not For Love, was originally an urban fan-ficiton story about Trey Songz.

Are you judging me? Don’t judge! LOL. Part three of the series debuted at number one on Amazon’s Urban Life bestseller’s list. When I wrote it, I had no idea it would be the book to jumpstart a successful writing career. Since then, I’ve published a few more bestsellers, such as A Drug Called You and Soul Ties. I opened Miss Candice Presents, my publishing company, in 2016. After disbanding in April of 2023, I decided to relaunch as Miss Candice Presents Publications in December of 2023. Currently, I’m accepting submissions in the Urban Romance and Women’s Fiction genres.

Whew. Now that we’ve gotten that stuff out of the way can we get to who Miss Candice really is?

I’m an author who once thought she had to be a certain way. Even here. In this bio. My first thought was, be professional. But to strictly be professional, is also to be robotic. Isn’t it? In a sense. The only thing I want to be is authentic. It took me a minute to get here. A lonnnng minute. A few years, to be honest. Like I said… I thought I had to be a certain way. But, no. I just want to be me. In every area. I’m professional. I’m intelligent. I’m witty… poetic… I’m a lot of things. But most importantly I’m relatable. Yes, most importantly. My time as an author hasn’t been all sunshine and roses. I’ve bumped my head in this industry. PLENTY of times. A lot of people look at me and automatically assume I’m intimidating and unapproachable. Which I am not. I’m one of the most down to earth authors you’ll ever encounter. And if you’ve had a conversation with me, you know it.

That’s one of the characteristics my readers love most about me. I get so many ‘Oh my God, thank you for responding’ messages, it’s crazy. Because, why wouldn’t I respond? Of course I’m responding! Without you, there is no Miss Candice. Honestly. I would simply be Candice, that talented, writer, crafting stories on her computer with no audience.

God, I’m happy I’m not just that girl anymore. I love what I do and I want to share it with the world. There is no greater feeling than opening a message and reading that my book resonated with someone so immensely that they had to find me just to tell me. I love it. Writing is truly my calling. I couldn’t imagine doing anything but it. So, if you’re ever worried about me stopping— don’t. The only thing that’ll ever stop my creative flow is something literally stopping it.

In a nutshell, Miss Candice (Yep, I’ve switched to third-person reference here 😂) is a passionate, poetic, author who’s some times a little wordy. Wordy because she wants you to feel. Not just read… feel what she writes. She’s ambitious, innovative, intelligent, well-seasoned, driven and relatable. And in a few years, she’ll be an executive television show producer and screenwriter.

Aside from the professional aspect of who Miss Candice is, she’s a wife and a mother to three young kings too. She has a bit of anxiety (social mostly), but she’s working on it. She’s spiritual and caring with a big heart and dreams just as big. And she appreciates you for sticking around long enough to make it to the end of her bio.
